Ebnet Medical specializes in catheters that deliver life-saving drugs, infusions and blood products to patients quickly, simply and safely. Flagship development project is SWORDCATH, a system that greatly simplifies the insertion of catheters.
Currently, insertion of catheters is mainly based on "Seldinger technique", introduced in 1953. This technique bears the risk of negative impacts and has to be laboriously learned. It requires sterile conditions and different components are needed. This demands a significant investment of time, personnel and space. Millions of catheters are inserted into blood vessels around the world every year. The product conveniently packages all the necessary components together. It uses a novel, intuitive and easy-to-learn puncturing technique that combines a small puncture needle with a larger catheter.
SWORDCATH will make it simple, safe and quick to insert either large or small catheters into blood vessels or anywhere else. An assistant is no longer necessary. Overall, costs can be reduced.
The system will be able to puncture more than just blood vessels and will be applied in areas, where medical supply chains are challenged, for example in emergency medicine or when sterile conditions cannot be fully met.
