Smart development of thin films for power supply of tomorrow
Developing innovative sensors or microsystems, improving optical or magnetical data storages, combining and miniaturizing mechanical and electrical functions in MEMS or realizing superconducting systems for power transmission of tomorrow - thin film technology on nano- and micrometer scales is the key technology.
Gentle processing of medical instruments and implants
The manufacturing of medical instruments and implants is characterized by smaller and smaller structures as well as the demand for highest precision in terms of surface quality, absence of burr, and materials residues. While established fabrication technologies increasingly face their limits, laser micromachining provides optimum preconditions for the required quality and precision since machining is accomplished in a contactless way.
Like phoenix from the volcanic ashes: successful investment talks on this year’s MicroNanoTec
The exhibitors of the IVAM Product Market „Micro, Nano & Materials“ at the MicroNanoTec/HANNOVER MESSE went home very satisfied. “Despite of the problems caused by restricted European air space, all the important contact persons have been to Hanover. Some exhibitors arrived later, others sent deputies – but they all reported that they had good business dealings”, Dr. Uwe Kleinkes, CEO of the IVAM Microtechnology Network emphasized.
“Thin Film Powerhouse” Evatec cooperates with CORIAL
Evatec delivers complete process solutions for thin film deposition and etching to the optical and semiconductor industries around the globe. The company has signed an agreement with CORIAL, specialist in RIE, ICP, HDP and PECVD plasma etching and deposition equipment, on delivering processes and platforms for the compound semiconductor, LED and MEMS markets.
Self-optimizing & high-resolution AFM imaging
Until today, working with Atomic Force Microscopy required a lot of operator input and experience to achieve good image quality and consistent data. Veeco has invented a new imaging mode called ScanAsyst that measures in real-time the TRUE tip/sample interaction, thus enabling the customer to self-optimize all parameters.
IVAM Research presents new survey on Germany to the international microtechnology community
Micro- and nanotechnology companies from Germany are successful players on global markets. IVAM Research has now compiled the activities in these industries in Germany in a comprehensive survey. The “Micro/Nano Atlas of Germany“ has been presented to the public recently, during the annual summit of the international microtechnology community, Micromachine Summit 2010, which took place in Dortmund at the end of April.
New megasonic nozzle with a frequency of 600 kHz
SONOSYS Ultraschallsysteme GmbH is a specialist in development, manufacturing and sales of high-frequency ultrasonic system in the frequency range of 400 kHz to 4 MHz. The cavitation and microstreaming generated by the megasonic-energy enables, in connection with chemical reactions, the separating of particles up to nano scale from damageable surfaces and high-precision structures.
A convincing concept: ACEOS GmbH was awarded the 2. IVAM Marketingprize.
The company ACEOS from Fürth/Germany received the 2nd IVAM Marketingprize. The award ceremony took place during a networking event in the industrial museum “Zeche Zollern“, Dortmund on March 25. The event was organized by the IVAM Microtechnology Network in cooperation with the network pro Ruhrgebiet. Jury member Prof. Klaus Meerholz handed over the award to two ACEOS-representatives: Dr. Markus Schotters, CEO, accepted the prize together with Gunnar Jung, director product management.
HNP Mikrosysteme GmbH showcased functional modules for micro-dosing in analytic instrumentation and biotechnology at the Analytica trade fair
Diverse fields of application as Lab-on-a-Chip or laboratory automation do have high demands on accuracy and functional reliability of components used for micro-dosing. At the Analytica 2010, HNP Mikrosysteme GmbH presented different functional modules which combine some of the most important components of the microfluidic installation.
Workshop in Paris on May 17 -18: Essential tools for MEMS and IC-Systems
From traditional applications (automotive, military…), the MEMS market is now expanding to high volume applications such as consumer electronics (gaming, mobile phone…). The MEMS ecosystem is evolving at the same time: fabless design houses and pure MEMS foundries are emerging. In this changing environment MEMS+IC co-design via System Level Simulation and data exchange between engineering designers is becoming highly critical.
Micro- and nanotechnologies in the spotlight: expert discussion at the 16th annual World Micromachine Summit in Dortmund
Last week the international micro- and nanotechnology community met in Dortmund, Germany on the occasion of the 16th international Micromachine Summit. The summit is an annual conference, which shows a snapshot of industrial, scientific and political micro and nano activities worldwide.
