In Japan too, the micro and nanotechnology enters several industry sectors

More than 300 Japanese industry representatives joined the Japanese-German Micro/Nano Business Forum at the Exhibition Micromachine/MEMS in Tokyo. The expert’s forum gave an overview about current research and industry activities in Japan and Germany.
 
Prof. Dr. Esashi from Tohoku University and Prof. Dr. Geßner vom Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS reported about current research activities in their institutes. The audience got an insight into the cross sectional technologies micro- and nanosystems technology. Prof. Dr. Lang from Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration and Dr. Scholles from Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS led the attention to advanced integration and smart photonic systems for healthy and secure living. International representatives from companies like Alicona Imaging (A), Plan Optik (D), Panaconic Corp. (JP), Harting (CH) and Polytec (JP) presented interesting news from their industrial aspects.

The forum was organized by the IVAM Microtechnology Network and the Micromachine Center in Tokyo, with support of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy and Industry of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
