The miniaturization trend in medical and biotechnology is advancing rapidly. The development and manufacture of medical technology products is focusing on ever smaller and more cost-efficient instruments that are simultaneously equipped with innovative functions, such as sensors for flow measurements.

Non-contact surface measurement technology enables reliable quality control

The quality and functionality of these components must meet high and strict standards. In particular, the durability of medical devices is often considered a decisive quality factor in product development. Many companies in the medical industry therefore rely on non-contact surface measurement technology in the development and manufacture of their products. This technology detects even minimal deviations in the surface properties of the components and thus enables reliable quality control.

Optical surface metrology in medical technology

FRT has been supporting well-known manufacturers of medical technology products for many years, including pharmaceutical products and primary packaging for injectable drugs. The optical metrology systems of FRT GmbH measure surface roughness, geometries, 3D topographies and layer thicknesses on hospital products. Many other measurement tasks, such as step heights, waviness, flatness, and many more are solved very reliably by such systems. Therefore, FRT GmbH is one of the leading suppliers of high-quality surface metrology in medical technology.
