Precisely working metering pumps are required for automated continuous analysis and synthesis on fluidic chips. To generate a stable two-phase flow the extremely precise dosing of carrier fluid and sample fluid is essential. The selection of the appropriate pump is pre-requisite for a successful analysis or synthesis on chip. Such demanding metering tasks of a few µl per minute or hour can be achieved by micro annular gear pumps of the low pressure series by HNP Mikrosysteme GmbH in combination with volume flow sensors or controllers. The pumps are characterized by high performance and precision as well as low pulsation.

By integration of micro annular gear pumps into functional modules a compact design is warranted for Lab-on-a-Chip applications. The functional module F-P, consisting of manifold with integrated filter element is used to dose the reaction mix. Dosage of the carrier fluid is carried out by a module with additional bypass system (functional module F-P-B).
