The high-tech industry is highly specialised and highly differentiated: In Germany in particular, many small and medium-sized enterprises shape the character of the scene.

Ever faster technical developments and not least digitalisation make the sector highly dynamic. Qualified training and continuous professional development of employees is essential. This is the only way companies can remain competitive in the future and, for example, prevent the trend of migration to the Asian market. So far, however, there are no structures in the microtechnology sector that promote inter-company continuing education.

Against this background, the coordination office (mIQu) was set up to bring together companies from the micro and nanotechnology sector in NRW (and later nationwide) by setting up or promoting the development of continuing training networks and thus improving the professional training rate and quality in the sector as well as increasing the number of participants in trainings from employees and companies.
