On March 14, 2016, Polytec GmbH from Waldbronn was awarded the 8th IVAM Marketing Prize. Polytec had thrown their hat into the ring with a trade fair campaign for the TMS-350 TopMap Inline surface measuring system.

Referencing the old requirement of industrial manufacture to reject faulty parts before each successive production step in order to cut down on unnecessary cost, Polytec have built their campaign around the image of the ‘black sheep’ to symbolize the runaway parts. The black ovine was subsequently used in e- and snail ‘Mählings’ (‘Mäh’ being the equivalent to ‘baa baa’), online banners and other media to promote Polytec’s appearance at the Control 2015 trade show in Stuttgart. Polytec had already been in the running for the grand prize several times in the past and had won the contest once in 2014. The judges especially praised the campaign’s strategic approach in combination with its high degree of originality and informational content.

Altogether 10 hightech companies from three countries have applied with their impressive marketing concepts. The jury nominated three finalists from the pool of candidates. The two other finalists for the 8th IVAM Marketing Prize besides Polytec Gmbh were eagleyard Photonics GmbH from Berlin and Tronics Microsystems S.A. from Crolles in France.

The jury consisted of six experts from the fields of microtechnology and marketing and their rating criteria were creativity, innovation, aesthetics, informative content, currentness, originality and the strategic, technical and target-group-specific approach. Members of the jury were Dr. Thomas Fries of FRT GmbH, Horst Giesen of Messe Düsseldorf, Claudia Pejas of Impulswerk Videoagentur, Markus Thamm of Salcon International and Markus Rall of vitality e.K.

The award presentation took place on April 14, 2016 subsequent to the General Meeting of IVAM Microtechnology Network in the DASA Working World Exhibition in Dortmund.
