The official kick-off of the nationwide project “MIND – Microtechnology, Interaction, New Perspectives on Diversity” marks a significant step toward promoting gender diversity in STEM, with a particular focus on the microtechnology sector. The initiative aims to actively support women and other underrepresented groups and increase their participation in this key area of innovation.
At the heart of the project is the development of a digital platform that offers information, learning, and exchange opportunities for companies, female and diverse professionals, and other marginalized groups. The platform will include tools and content for organizational and personal development, professional networking, and materials to support youth engagement and gender equality in STEM careers.
A particular emphasis is placed on raising awareness of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The project addresses barriers such as unconscious bias, gender stereotypes, and challenges related to work-life balance. Running from July 2025 to June 2028, MIND is being implemented in close cooperation with companies and associations across Germany.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) as part of the programme “Wandel der Arbeit sozialpartnerschaftlich gestalten” (Shaping the Future of Work through Social Partnership).
“With MIND, we aim not only to dismantle existing barriers but to actively create new pathways and perspectives in microtechnology – for greater innovation through diversity,” said the project team at the inaugural meeting.
Companies interested in contributing to and benefiting from the platform are warmly invited to join the network.
