The Canadian company Forensic Technology Inc. (FTI) agreed with NanoFocus AG on the delivery of 30 additional sensor units, worth a total of 1.35 million Euros. The order will be completed over a period of three years. The optical 3D surface analysis tools from NanoFocus are applied in FTI’s BULLETTRAX-3D, a bullet analysis machine for the forensics sector.
This fingerprint system is used for the unequivocal identification of weapons linked to crimes. The use of the NanoFocus technology enables, for the first time, reliable quantitative three-dimensional imaging of complex microstructures, the results of which can be recorded in a database. Due to the high-resolution 3D measuring technology and previous experiences, the success probability during the analysis of the bullets and weapons is nearly 100 percent, therefore setting new standards in the area of forensic ballistics.
NanoFocus, a nanotechnology specialist from Oberhausen, Germany, has already made a name for itself in the area of public safety through the use of its systems by reference customers such as London Police, Scotland Yard, BKA and the New York Police Department.
