Assembly robot with new servo axis

Aug 22, 2008

The secret of success in the assembly of micromechanical parts for medical and microsystems technology as well as the watch-and-clock-making industry is based on the combination of selected core technologies and plant concepts. For high-precision applications in the watch-and-clock-making industry agenium systems has developed an assembly robot with a new servo axis. The robot presses ruby stones (< ø 0.7 mm), which hold together single watch components, or pins (< ø 0.6 mm) into the depth with a precision of less than 5 µm.

Different measuring systems detect the deflection of the axis and the part; an iterative process controls the data and corrects the axis movement. The force fitting of microparts is only one of the possible technologies which can be integrated in different basic machines. Depending on the required automation degree individual workplaces, µ-assembly robots, linear transfer plants or 12-stations rotary table machines can be used for the processing of up to 36 parts.

The company agenium systems GmbH, micromechanics expert for assembly, measuring and inspection, writing and lasers, has been the representative for micro assembly plants of the company SMS Spinnler AG in Germany since January 2008.
